You can adapt gas to the way you like to work. Choose a light or dark appearance, switch the interface language between Czech, English and German, and decide how graphs and tables should look by default on every page. You will find all of these choices in your user account settings.
These are personal settings. They change the appearance and language only for you. Colleagues in the same customer account still see the application according to their own settings and will not learn about your change. On the other hand, if you switch between several customer accounts, your settings follow you into all of them.
Before you start
Every logged-in user can change these settings. You do not need the Administrator role or any special subscription.
- In the main menu of the application, click Settings.
- On the dashboard, choose the User profile card and click I want to set up.
- The Profile page opens. Next to it there is a vertical menu of further pages, where you will find Appearance, Graph view and Table view. On a phone, instead of the vertical menu there is a drop-down list above the page content.
How to do it
Light or dark appearance
- Open Settings → User profile → Appearance.
- Choose one of three options: According to operating system, Light theme, or Dark theme.
- The colours switch immediately after you click. There is no save button here, the choice applies right away.
The default option is According to operating system. It means that gas follows the settings of your computer or phone: as soon as the system switches to night mode, gas goes dark too. If you want gas to keep the same colours regardless of the system, select Light theme or Dark theme explicitly.
The selected appearance is remembered by the browser in which you set it, not by your user account. On another computer, in another browser and on your phone you therefore have to select it again. If you clear stored website data in your browser, the choice returns to the default According to operating system.
Interface language
The language is set on the Profile page, that is, right next to the appearance.
- Open Settings → User profile → Profile.
- Below the Full name field there is the Language option with three choices: Čeština, English and Deutsch.
- Click the language you want. A short note appears next to the option showing that the change is being saved, and the texts in the application switch within a moment. There is no need to refresh the page.
Changing the language switches:
- the whole menu, page names, buttons, column labels and metric names,
- the names of months and days in the period picker and in graphs,
- the emails gas sends you (invitations, alerts, messages about a finished report).
The language does not govern:
- data from connected services. Names of pages, profiles, ad accounts, campaigns and post texts stay as they are on the given platform,
- names you entered in gas yourself (reports, goals, custom measurements),
- reports that have already been saved. The document language is stored with the report at the moment someone saves it, and it is taken from that person's language. The Common problems section below describes how to change it.
Default graph view
On the Graph view page you decide how a graph should be drawn every time you open one in the application.
- Open Settings → User profile → Graph view.
- In the Graph type field, choose the shape of the graph: Line (default), Columns, Area, or Bars.
- Tick the other options to adjust what the graph shows. The settings save themselves, there is no Save button here.
The graph types differ in how they draw the values:
- Line: a line connects the values and shows best how a value developed over time. This is the default choice.
- Columns: each value stands as a separate column growing vertically from the bottom up. Useful when you want to compare individual days, weeks or months with each other.
- Area: the same as a line, but the area under the line is filled in. It emphasises the overall volume, not just the trend.
- Bars: the same as columns, only lying horizontally and growing from left to right. Useful when the labels are longer and would not fit under vertical columns.
The options you will find there:
- Show data values: the specific numbers are written next to the points of the graph.
- Compact display of data values (e.g. 1M): large numbers are shortened so that they fit into the graph. This option is switched on by default.
- Show previous period data: a second, comparison curve is added to the curve for the selected period.
- Split comparison axis: appears only once you switch on comparison with the previous period. Each of the two curves then gets its own vertical axis, which helps when the values differ significantly.
- Previous period range: what to compare against. Default takes a period of the same length immediately before the selected one, Year-on-year comparison the same period one year back and Month-on-month comparison the same period one month back.
Default table view
The Table view page has a single option, Show table in full width. When you tick it, tables stretch across the whole width of the window instead of a narrower column in the middle of the page. This is useful on a wide monitor and with tables that have many columns.
Which columns you see in a particular table, in what order they are and how the table is sorted is set directly in the table, not here. This page only deals with the width.
What happens next
None of these pages has a Save button. All choices are saved automatically right after you click, and they take effect immediately.
- Language, graph view and table view are saved to your user account. When you log in on another computer or on your phone, you will find them set the same way.
- Appearance stays only in the browser in which you chose it.
- All these settings apply in every customer account you have access to. After switching accounts you do not have to set them again.
- Printing a page and saving to PDF always comes out light with black text, even if you have the dark appearance switched on. The printed page thus stays readable.
Common problems
The application has different colours on another computer or on my phone
The appearance is saved in the browser, not with your account, so it does not carry over to another device. On that device, open Settings → User profile → Appearance and select the theme again. The same applies when you use two different browsers on one computer, or a private window.
A setting from another device appeared with a delay
The language and the graph and table settings are saved with your account and are loaded when the application starts. If you changed them on another device while gas was open here as well, refresh the page. When you change the same option on two devices shortly one after the other, the later change applies.
The application switches between light and dark appearance by itself
You have the According to operating system option selected and your computer or phone is switching night mode on and off, typically according to the time of day. If you want a constant appearance, select Light theme or Dark theme.
The dark appearance switched on even though I did not set it
The default option is According to operating system, so gas goes dark on its own as soon as your computer or phone has dark mode switched on. It is not a fault of your account or of the connected services.
I cannot see the language option on the Appearance page
The language is set on the neighbouring Profile page, together with your name. The Appearance page only offers the choice of light and dark theme.
The interface is only partly translated
Texts that belong to the application are translated. Everything gas loads from connected services stays in its original form: names of pages and profiles, names of campaigns and ad sets, post texts and other data you manage on the platform. Names you entered in gas yourself also stay unchanged.
An email from gas arrived in a different language than the one I have set
Every email is sent in the language of the person it is addressed to, not in the language of the person who triggered the action. So check the language setting of the account whose address the email arrived at. An invitation for someone who does not yet have a user account in gas is sent in Czech, because there is no language to take yet.
A finished report is still in the original language
The report language is written into its settings at the moment it is saved, and it is taken from the language of the person who saved the report. Changing the language in your profile therefore does not translate earlier reports. If you want a report in another language, first set the language on the Profile page, then open the report and save it again. The next generation will already run in the new language.
The login screen is in Czech even though I have English set
Before you log in, gas does not yet know who you are, and so it uses Czech. As soon as you log in, the interface switches to the language of your user account.
The graph was not redrawn into the type I selected
The graph type choice applies to graphs that show how values develop over time. Graphs with a special shape, for example the breakdown of interactions or the map of times when followers are online, always look the same. If even an ordinary timeline graph did not change, refresh the page.
Comparison with the previous period did not appear in the graph
Most often because the Show previous period data option is not ticked. The second possibility is that the selected period is longer than the chosen way of comparing allows: year-on-year comparison is used for periods up to one year, month-on-month for periods up to one month. For a longer period, gas compares with the period immediately preceding the selected one, or it does not draw the comparison curve at all. The third possibility is that the platform does not provide data from that far back.
The table is not shown in full width
The option only takes effect on pages that contain a wide table. On a phone the content is always shown across the full width, and tables are additionally redrawn into cards, so the option changes nothing there.
A colleague sees graphs differently than I do
The appearance, language and graph settings are personal and everyone chooses their own. If you want everyone to work with the same graph shape, agree on it and set it up individually. Personal graph settings are not reflected in a generated report, the look of a report is determined by its own settings.
I changed a setting and it changed in another customer account too
That is how it should be. The appearance, language and the default look of graphs and tables belong to your user account, not to the customer account. They therefore follow you into all the customer accounts you switch between.
