Quick search

When you already know where you want to go in gas, you do not have to look for the path in the menu. Open quick search with one click or a keyboard shortcut, type a few letters of the name, and gas takes you straight to the page, the linked account, the campaign or the goal. In the top bar it is the field with the text "Search pages and accounts..."; when you hover over it, you see the tooltip "Quick search" and the keyboard shortcut that applies to your computer.

Before you start

Search always works within the customer account you have currently switched to, and it only offers what you are allowed to open. Pages beyond your role or your subscription do not appear in the results: for example Users, Subscription and Linked accounts are visible only to the Administrator of the customer account.

gas builds the list that search works with in the background, a few seconds after you open the application. If you open search sooner, a spinner turns for a moment and the results appear right after that.

How to do it

  1. Open search. On a computer and on a tablet, click the "Search pages and accounts..." field in the top bar, or press Ctrl and K together (on a Mac, Cmd and K). On a phone, tap the magnifier icon labelled Search in the bottom bar.
  2. Type at least two letters of the name you are looking for. Results are filled in as you type, you do not confirm anything.
  3. Move through the list with the down arrow and the up arrow. The highlight loops around, so after the last item you return to the first one. The mouse works just as well, the item under the cursor is highlighted automatically.
  4. Open the selected item with Enter, or click it with the mouse.
  5. Close search with Esc. On a phone, close the window with the cross in the top right corner.

On a computer there is a key hint at the bottom of the window: arrows to navigate, Enter to open, esc to close. This strip is not shown on a phone.

What search knows

  • Pages from the main menu, including subpages, so the overview, the individual networks, campaigns, goals, reports and others, depending on what is available to you.
  • Settings pages. From the user profile: Profile, Notifications, Appearance, Graph view, Table view, Active sessions, Customer accounts and Password & access. From connected services: Dashboard, Meta accounts, Google accounts, TikTok accounts, Pinterest accounts and Sklik accounts. Administrators also get Customer account, Users, Subscription and Linked accounts.
  • Linked accounts, meaning pages, profiles, ad accounts and channels. The results include those whose link belongs to your user account, see the Common problems section for more.
  • Specific pages and metrics of individual profiles, for example Followers for your Facebook page or Posts list for an Instagram profile. The subtitle always shows the profile name and the network, so you can tell which profile the result belongs to.
  • Campaigns created in this customer account, with the campaign code and the period it covers in the subtitle.
  • Goals, with the account and the tracked metric in the subtitle.

Each result has a group label on the right: Navigation, Settings, Linked account, Metric, Campaigns or Goals.

Search works with the names of pages, accounts, campaigns and goals. It does not search inside the data, so you will not find a specific post, video or a number from a table this way. Use the filters in the table on the relevant page for that.

How to write the query

  • Upper and lower case do not matter.
  • Search also matches inside a word, "cebo" finds Facebook.
  • You do not have to type accents, "sumava" finds Šumava. An exactly written name ranks higher, though, so if the item you want does not appear at the top, add the accents.
  • Search forgives a small typo, "faceook" still finds Facebook.
  • If you type two words or more, the result has to match all the words you entered, in any order. This is the fastest way to narrow down a long list: type the name of the metric and the name of the profile.
  • At most twelve results are shown at a time.

What happens next

The window closes and gas takes you to the selected page. For items that belong to a specific profile (network metrics and pages), gas also switches the profile selected for that network to the profile from the result, and the data on the page loads for it right away.

The item you open is remembered. The next time you open search and type nothing, you see the heading "Recently searched" and the five items you used last below it. They open in the same way, with the arrows and Enter. Items you use often and recently also rank higher in later searches. Clear the history with the "Clear history" link next to the heading. It is kept separately for each customer account, so after you switch accounts you see a different list.

Common problems

A profile or an ad account is missing from the results

Search only contains linked accounts whose link belongs to your user account. If a colleague connected the profile, you see its data in gas normally, but the profile will not be among the search results. You can find out who owns the link in Settings → Customer account → Linked accounts, in the Who links the account column. You can reach the pages of such a profile through the main menu, search is not the only route.

The profile I am looking for belongs to a different customer account

Search only knows the content of the customer account you have currently switched to. Switch to the right customer account and wait a moment, the list is built again and the profile appears in the results.

The keyboard shortcut does nothing

The shortcut is deliberately disabled while you are typing in a text field, so that it does not get in the way. Click an empty spot outside the field and press it again. The shortcut can also be taken over by your browser or one of its extensions. In that case open search by clicking the field in the top bar, it works exactly the same.

There is no search in the top bar on a phone

On a phone, search is in the bottom bar under the magnifier icon labelled Search. The window opens full screen and closes with the cross in the top right corner.

The window opens empty with a spinner turning in it

The list that search works with is being built. This happens mainly right after you open the application or shortly after you switch customer accounts. Wait a few seconds and keep typing, the results appear on their own.

I typed one letter and nothing is offered

Search starts looking from two letters. Type the second letter.

A newly created campaign or goal does not appear in the results

The list is updated on its own after you save. If the item is still missing, click the Refresh button in the page header, which builds the list again.

I typed "settings" and nothing was found

Search knows the individual settings pages under their own names, not the word Settings as a whole. Type the name of the specific page, for example Notifications, Appearance, Subscription or Meta accounts.

There are many results and the one I want is not among them

At most twelve best results are shown. Make the query more specific: add a second word, typically the name of the profile or the network the item belongs to.

Search does not offer a page that I know is in the application

It only offers what you are allowed to open according to your role in the customer account and according to the subscription. The settings for users, subscription and linked accounts are visible only to the Administrator, and the availability of individual networks depends on the subscription. If you believe you should have access, contact the administrator of your customer account or write through the contact form.

The displayed profile switched after I opened a result

That is intended. If you opened a metric or a network page that belongs to a specific profile, gas switches to that profile so that you see the data you were looking for. Switch back by selecting a profile in the page header.

Search does not find a specific post, video or a number from a table

It searches the names of pages, linked accounts, campaigns and goals, not the data itself. To find a specific post, use search to open the relevant page (for example Posts list) and then use the filter above the table.
