The Linked accounts screen shows in one place all the pages, profiles, channels, ad accounts and websites that are connected to your customer account. It is an overview of where gas takes data from in this customer account, in other words what every member of the team sees. Besides the overview, this is also where you decide which profile is offered first for a given network, in what order the profiles are offered, and where you unlink a profile that no longer belongs to the customer account.
Linking in gas happens in two steps. First you log in to the platform (Settings → Connected services) and gas thereby gains access to the accounts you manage on that platform. Only the second step, connecting a specific profile, decides whose data appears in the customer account. The Linked accounts screen shows the result of that second step.
Before you start
- Only a team member with the Administrator role can access the Customer account section. Other roles see the message "You do not have sufficient permissions to edit the customer account." instead of the settings. If you see this message and need to change something, contact the administrator of your customer account.
- Open the overview via Settings → Customer account → Linked accounts.
- Set the default profile, change the order and unlink profiles on a computer. On a phone the list is shown as cards and is read-only.
- Changes on this screen apply to the whole customer account, that is to all team members, not just to you.
What you find in the table
Rows are grouped by network and all groups are expanded when you open the page. The group name shows the number of connected accounts in brackets, so you can see straight away how many you have in each network. Some networks have their own name in gas: Google Analytics is listed under the name Websites, Meta ad accounts under the name Meta Ads and Google Ads accounts under the name Google Ads.
The table has these columns:
- Network determines the group the row belongs to (Facebook, Instagram, Meta Ads, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Pinterest Ads, Google Ads, Websites, Sklik).
- Account name is the name of the profile as it is called on the platform. To the left of the name there is a drag handle you use to change the order.
- Who links the account shows the email of the team member whose platform login gas uses for this profile. The email is a link, clicking it opens a new message to that person.
- Default contains a star with which you mark the profile that should be offered first in that network.
- The last column contains a red icon labelled Unlink account.
You can filter the table by account name and you can hide or show individual columns just like in the other tables in the application.
The value Nobody in the Who links the account column
When the Who links the account column says Nobody, it means there is no live connection to the platform for that profile. The whole row is therefore highlighted in red. The profile is still connected in the customer account, but gas has nothing to download its data with, so the numbers stop growing.
The typical cause is a colleague leaving who once linked the profile. The fix is described in the article Who linked the account and why can't I see it in the same category: an active colleague who has access on the platform connects the profile again and chooses to take ownership of the profile during the selection. This preserves both the history and the settings and data starts coming in again.
Setting the default profile
- Open Settings → Customer account → Linked accounts.
- Find the network group in which you want to change the default profile.
- In the Default column, click the star on the row that should be the default. The tooltip next to the star says "Set as default for this network".
- The star of the chosen profile turns yellow and the star of the previous default profile goes out. There is nothing else to save, the change is saved immediately.
Only one profile can be the default in each network. If you click the star of a profile that is already the default, gas only reminds you that this account is already the default and changes nothing.
The star is not shown on some rows at all. It is missing in a network where you have only one connected profile (that one is the default by itself, there is nothing to choose from) and it is also missing on a row where the Who links the account column says Nobody.
What the default profile is for
When you have several profiles connected in one network, there is a switcher above the pages of that network with which you choose whose data is displayed. The default profile is the one gas offers in the switcher until you pick one yourself. As soon as you choose a different profile in the switcher, gas remembers your choice and uses it the next time you open the page, not the default profile. Your choice is remembered separately for each customer account and for each browser.
The default profile applies again in two situations: for a team member who has not chosen anything yet (typically a new colleague), and at the moment the previously chosen profile stops being available, for example after being unlinked.
Changing the order of profiles
- Hover over the row you want to move. A drag handle appears on the left in the Account name column.
- Press and hold the handle and drag the row up or down to where it belongs.
- Release the mouse button. The row stays in its new place and the order is saved automatically.
You can only drag rows within one network. If you drop a row in a different group, gas ignores the move and leaves the order unchanged. The handle is not shown in a network where you have a single connected profile, because there is nothing to sort against.
The order takes effect everywhere the application offers profiles of that network for selection, above all in the profile switcher above the network pages. It pays off to put the profile you use most often at the top.
If the order cannot be saved, gas shows the message "Failed to save the order" and returns the list to the last saved state. Try the move again, or refresh the page.
Unlinking a profile from the customer account
By unlinking you say that this profile no longer belongs to this customer account. The platform login stays untouched, only the link between the profile and the customer account is removed.
- On the profile row, click the red icon labelled Unlink account.
- Wait until gas checks whether the profile is used in any scheduled report. Depending on the result, one of two dialogs opens.
- If the profile is not in any scheduled report, the question Unlink account appears with the text that the action can be undone by linking the account again. Confirm with the Unlink account button.
- If the profile is in scheduled reports, the Unlink profile dialog appears, listing the reports by name, together with a warning that the profile will no longer be loaded into them after unlinking. Below the list there is a checkbox Remove the profile from these reports as well, which is selected in advance.
- Leave the checkbox selected if the profile should disappear from the listed reports. Clear it if you want to keep the profile in the report settings (for example because you will connect it again soon).
- Confirm with the Unlink button. The Cancel button closes the dialog without any change.
What happens next
- All three actions (default profile, order, unlinking) are saved immediately, there is no Save button on the screen. The list reloads itself after every action.
- The unlinked profile disappears from the table and stops being offered in the profile switchers. Its pages remain in the menu, but you will no longer see the data of the unlinked profile there.
- Unlinking does not delete the profile's history. When you connect the same profile again, the earlier data appears in the customer account once more.
- Unlinking applies only to this customer account. If the same profile is connected elsewhere, it keeps working there.
- If you left the removal from reports selected in the dialog, the profile disappears from the settings of the affected reports and the next report is generated without it.
- If you cleared the removal from reports, the report is generated but the section with the unlinked profile is left out. The diagnostic page of the document will contain a Skipped profiles block with an explanation, and the administrators of the customer account will receive an alert. As soon as you connect the profile again, gas generates such a report again by itself and in full.
- The change of the default profile and of the order takes effect for team members the next time they load the page. A colleague who has already chosen something in the switcher keeps their own choice.
Common problems
Access and what is missing from the list
I cannot see the Customer account section at all
You have a role that does not reach the customer account settings, so instead of the content gas shows the message about insufficient permissions. Ask the administrator of your customer account to make the change, or to change your role.
The profile is not in the list at all, even though I have the service linked
The second step is missing: logging in to the platform alone does not connect the profile to the customer account. Go back to Settings → Connected services, open the relevant platform and select the profile.
The Who links the account column says Nobody and the row is red
The profile has no live connection to the platform, so no new data comes in for it. It needs to be connected again by a colleague who has access to it on the platform, and during the selection they have to choose to take ownership of the profile. This is described in detail in the article Who linked the account and why can't I see it.
The Who links the account column shows a colleague's email, not mine
That is a common and correct state. The platform link belongs to whoever logged in to it, but the connected profile belongs to the customer account, so the whole team draws data from it. There is no need to create a second link for the same profile because of this.
The account is in the list twice
Check the Who links the account column. If it is the same profile in two different networks (for example a Facebook page and a Meta ad account), that is fine, they are different data sources. If it really is a duplicate within one network, unlink the row that says Nobody and keep the one with the live connection.
Default profile, order and controls
I cannot see a star in the Default column for a profile
Either it is the only connected profile in that network (then it is the default automatically), or the Who links the account column says Nobody for it. In the second case, resolve the missing connection first.
I set the default profile, but the switcher still offers a different one
The switcher gives priority to what you chose in it earlier. Select the profile you want in the switcher manually and gas will remember it. For colleagues who have not chosen anything yet, the default profile takes effect straight away.
The message "Failed to set default" appeared
The change was not saved. Refresh the page with the refresh button in its header and try again. If the message keeps appearing, write through the contact form.
The row cannot be dragged
The handle is only shown in networks where at least two profiles are connected. Also check that you drop the row inside the same network, gas will not move it to a different group.
I cannot set anything on my phone
On a small display the list is shown as cards with the account name, the network, the Default mark and the email of the person who links the account. Setting the default profile, changing the order and unlinking are not available here, use a computer.
Unlinking a profile
I unlinked a profile by mistake
Connect it again via Settings → Connected services and the relevant platform. Historical data is not lost by unlinking. Afterwards check the settings of the scheduled reports from which the profile may have been removed and add it back there.
After unlinking, data for previous months is missing as well
That is expected behaviour: an unlinked profile is not displayed in the customer account at all, not even retrospectively. Once it is connected again, the history reappears.
Before anyone on the team creates a new link, it pays off to look exactly here. In this table the administrator can see what is connected, who links it and what state it is in, so they can tell whether a new link is needed at all.
