gas (short for good analytical system) is an application that collects the numbers about your marketing in one place: statistics of your social network profiles, results of paid advertising and website traffic. Instead of opening Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, ad systems and traffic measurement one after another and copying the data into your own spreadsheet, you log in to gas and see them side by side, for the same period and in the same form.
Who gas is for
- People responsible for marketing of a company or of clients in an agency. They manage social network profiles and ad accounts and need to show the results regularly to management or to the client.
- Destination management companies and tourism organisations. Besides social networks and advertising, they also work with tourism data about their destination.
You normally get into gas through an invitation sent to you by Good Agency or by the administrator of your customer account, not by filling in a self-service registration.
Where the numbers come from
gas does not measure the numbers itself and does not make them up. It reads them from the accounts you give it access to, in two steps:
- You link a service. In Settings → Connected services you log in to Meta (Facebook and Instagram), Google (YouTube, Google Ads, Google Analytics), Pinterest, TikTok or Sklik. This is how gas finds out which accounts you have access to on that platform.
- You select the specific profiles. From the list of available pages, profiles, channels and ad accounts you tick the ones that belong to your customer account. Only this step decides whose data you will see. You will find an overview of the connected profiles in Settings → Customer account → Linked accounts.
From that moment on gas downloads the data by itself in the background, for most networks several times a day. You do not have to start anything yourself.
As long as no service is linked and no profile is connected, the gas pages are empty. This is not an error of the application, it just does not yet know where to take the numbers from.
What you will find in the left menu
The left menu is the main dashboard of the application. Items that have more than one page expand into subsections when you click them.
- Overview: the opening screen with cards for the individual networks and their most important numbers for the selected period.
- Campaigns: brings the performance of one marketing activity across networks together under a single name, including the budget and how much of it has been spent.
- Goals: a measurable goal value for a selected metric (for example the number of Instagram followers) and continuous tracking of how close you are to it.
- Custom measurement: measurements that no network offers by itself, that is clicks on a generated link, impressions using a measuring code on the website and conversions.
- Facebook: numbers for the company page, that is followers, fans, reach, impressions, interactions, videos, posts and events.
- Instagram: numbers for the profile, that is followers, posts, stories, reach, impressions and audience composition.
- Meta Ads: performance of paid campaigns on Facebook and Instagram, that is spend, reach, clicks and conversions, down to the detail of a single ad.
- TikTok: numbers for the profile and for individual videos, that is followers, views and likes.
- Pinterest: numbers for the profile and pins, and separately also the advertising part of Pinterest.
- Google Ads: campaigns and ad groups in Google Ads with spend, impressions, clicks and conversions.
- Sklik: campaigns and ad groups in the Seznam advertising system.
- YouTube: numbers for the channel and videos, that is subscribers, views and watch time.
- Websites: website traffic from Google Analytics, that is traffic sources, visitor behaviour and geographic data.
- Media monitoring: tracking of mentions of the chosen phrases in online media and an overview of the sources that write about you.
- Tourism data: a module for destination management companies with tourism indicators, destination comparison, a map and subject ratings.
- Reports: an automatically compiled PDF report that can be scheduled and sent out by email.
- Settings: user profile, customer account details, team, subscription and linking of services.
What gas does not do
gas is a tool for reading and evaluating numbers, not for operating the networks. That is why you cannot use the application to:
- publish or schedule posts, stories or videos,
- create, switch on, switch off or edit ad campaigns and budgets,
- edit or delete content that is already published on the networks, including captions and comments,
- reply to messages, comments and reviews.
gas only looks into the linked accounts and downloads numbers from them. The only change it makes on the platform side is removing its own access at the moment you cancel the link. You keep publishing and managing advertising in the tools of the given platform, and gas then shows how the result performed.
Why you do not see all the sections
The left menu adapts to what your customer account has available, so two people in different companies see menus of different lengths. Three things determine the scope:
- Plan and add-ons. The Meta Ads, Google Ads, Sklik, Custom measurement, Media monitoring, Reports and Tourism data sections are shown only if the subscription of the customer account includes them. You will find the current state in Settings → Customer account → Subscription.
- Role of the user account. The administrator of the customer account may change settings and links, other roles have some actions in read-only mode.
- Connected profiles. The sections for social networks and websites are in the menu even when no profile is connected to them yet. In that case the pages stay empty until you add the link.
Common problems
I see the section in the menu, but there is no data in it
No profile is connected to that network yet, or the link stopped working. Check Settings → Customer account → Linked accounts, where the state of each profile is shown.
We use the network regularly, but I do not see it in the menu at all
The sections for paid advertising, media monitoring, custom measurement, reports and tourism data are tied to the subscription. If you do not see them, your plan does not include them. Ask the administrator of the customer account to extend it.
A colleague sees different numbers in gas than I do
Most often each of you is switched to a different customer account. The switch is in the top bar of the application, check that you both have the same account selected and also that you are looking at the same period.
The numbers in gas differ from the numbers directly on Facebook or in Google Ads
Small differences are normal. The platforms calculate some metrics differently, work with their own time zone and are still finalising the numbers for the last few days. Spend in a foreign currency is also converted using an exchange rate.
I want to schedule a post or switch on an ad from gas
gas cannot do that and never will, its job is to read and evaluate data. Please use the tools of the given platform.
Data for one of the profiles ends on a certain day and does not continue
Usually the access through which the profile was downloaded has expired or was removed. You solve it by logging in to that service again in Settings → Connected services.
Where to continue
Depending on where you are right now:
- If you have received an invitation by email and your account is not finished yet, continue with the article on completing registration through an invitation.
- If you are already logged in and want to find your way around the screen, read the article on getting around the interface.
- If your application is empty and you need to get data into it, continue with the Connected services category and the article on how linking works.
- If you want to be sure you have not forgotten anything, go through the checklist for the first setup.
