You log in to gas with your email and password. On top of that, you can attach a Google, Meta (Facebook) or Apple account and log in with a single click, without typing a password. Both are set up on one screen: Settings → Profile → Password & access.
This setting belongs to your user account, so only to you personally. For colleagues who work in the same customer account, nothing changes when you change your password or attach a social network login.
Before you start
- To change your password you need to know the current one. The form asks for it as Old password and verifies it before saving the change.
- You also need the password to unlink any social network. It is a safeguard so that nobody who gets to your unlocked computer can remove your login.
- If you do not know your current password, use the Forgot password link on the login screen. The procedure is described in the article Forgotten password.
- Logging in via a social network is optional. Even if you attach none of them, you can always log in with your email and password.
Where to find the settings
- Click Settings in the side menu. On a phone, open the menu first with the Menu button in the bottom bar.
- On the settings dashboard choose the User profile card and the I want to set up button on it.
- In the left column open the Password & access item. On a phone there is a drop-down list above the content instead of the column, select the same item in it.
The screen has two parts one under the other: the password change form at the top and below it the Social network login section with rows for Google, Meta and Apple.
Changing your password
- In the Old password field type the password you currently use to log in to gas.
- In the New password field type the new password. Click the eye icon at the start of the field to show the characters you typed, click again to hide them.
- In the Confirm new password field type the same thing again.
- Click Change password.
Which password the application accepts
The new password has to meet four conditions at the same time:
- at least 8 characters,
- at least one uppercase letter,
- at least one lowercase letter,
- at least one digit.
If one of the conditions is missing, a red message appears under the field, for example The new password must contain at least 8 characters. or The new password must contain uppercase letters. The form will not let you continue until you meet the conditions.
Letters with diacritics count normally, an uppercase Č is an uppercase letter and a lowercase ě is a lowercase letter. The application does not require a special character (for example an exclamation mark or a hyphen), but you can use one and the password will be safer for it. Spaces in the middle of the password are fine.
What happens after the password change
A green message Password successfully changed. appears at the top and all three fields are emptied. The new password applies immediately, at your next login you enter the new one.
Changing the password does not log out other devices. If you are still logged in on another computer, on a phone or in another browser, those sessions stay valid even after the password change. If you want to be sure that nobody else can get in, go to Settings → Profile → Active sessions and use Log out from all devices. That also logs you out on this device and you then log in again with the new password. This is described in detail in the article Active sessions and devices.
Attached Google, Meta and Apple logins are not affected by the password change, they keep working. Nothing happens to connected services either, or to the data that comes into gas from social networks and advertising systems.
For comparison: if you have a password sent to you through Forgot password and set a new one from the email link, the application logs out all devices automatically and you then log in again everywhere.
Login with Google, Meta and Apple
An attached social network is only a faster way to get into gas. Instead of typing your email and password, you click the network's button on the login screen, the network verifies that it is you, and gas lets you in.
Logging in via Google or Meta is not the same as linking an account for data. This is the most common misunderstanding, so read carefully:
- Settings → Profile → Password & access (this screen) only sets up the front door into gas. No data comes from here. Even after you attach Google, not a single number from Google Ads, Google Analytics or YouTube will appear in the application.
- Settings → Connected services is the other thing, completely different. There you give gas permission to read statistics from your accounts (with Google, that is Google Ads, Google Analytics and YouTube, with Meta, Facebook pages, Instagram profiles and Meta Ads). Without that the application stays empty.
Both are done by logging in to the same platform, but they are two separate things. Unlinking one of them does not change the other in any way. Linking for data is covered in the articles How linking services works, Connecting a Google account and Connecting a Meta account.
Attaching a social network login
- Open Settings → Profile → Password & access and find the Social network login section.
- On the Google, Meta or Apple row click the Link button.
- The application redirects you to the platform's page. Log in there and confirm that you allow gas to verify your identity. Google first asks which of your accounts you want to use.
- After you confirm, the platform returns you to the Password & access screen.
You can tell it worked from two things: a green message Google account successfully linked for login. appears at the top (according to the network you were attaching) and the badge on the network's row changes from grey Not linked to green Linked. Next to the badge, Unlink is now offered instead of the Link button.
What is good to know in advance:
- The email does not have to match. Your account with Google, Meta or Apple can have a completely different email address than your account in gas. The application remembers the account itself, not its address, and your email in gas does not change when you attach it.
- One platform account belongs to one user account in gas. If somebody else tries to attach the same Google account, the application refuses with the message This account is already linked to another user.
- You attach one account from each network. As soon as a row is in the Linked state, the Link button is no longer offered on it. If you need a different account, first unlink the current one and then attach the new one.
- Meta means Facebook. In the settings the row is called Meta, on the login screen the button is labelled Continue with Facebook. It is the same thing.
A shortcut for those who already have Google or Meta linked for data
If you have a Google or Meta account linked in Settings → Connected services for downloading data, you can turn it into a login with one click. On the Google accounts page (or Meta accounts) there is a key icon labelled Use for login in the Actions column on every row. The icon is offered only until you have login via that network set up, then it disappears.
If you have more than one account linked from a single network, use the Link button in Settings → Profile → Password & access instead. There you choose during login which account should be used for logging in, so you will not end up attaching a different one than you expected.
How you then log in
- Open the gas login screen.
- Next to the email and password form there are three coloured buttons. Click Continue with Facebook, Continue with Google or Continue with Apple.
- On the platform's page select the account you have attached in gas and confirm the login.
- The application logs you in and opens the overview.
After every login, whether by password or via a social network, the question Do you trust this browser? appears. Your answer decides whether the application will remember you for one day or for thirty days. This is described in the article Trusted device and session length.
Unlinking a social network login
- In the Social network login section click the red Unlink button on the relevant row.
- The Unlink login window opens with a Password field. Type your gas password into it, not the password for that social network.
- Confirm with the Unlink button.
The message Account successfully unlinked. appears and the badge on the network changes back to Not linked. You will not be able to log in via that network until you attach it again.
Unlinking does not cut off your access to the application. Your account password always stays with you and it is the main way to log in. And because you have to enter the password to unlink, the account can never end up with no way to get into it at all. Unlinking also does not touch data in any way: connected services, connected profiles and reports stay the same.
Common problems
After clicking Continue with Google, the Account not linked window appeared
It means that this Google (or Meta or Apple) account is not attached to any user account in gas. First log in with your email and password, then attach the network in Settings → Profile → Password & access and next time the quick login will work too. The window has a Log in and set up button for that right away.
I selected a different account than the one I have attached in gas
Google and Meta both remember who is logged in the browser and offer that account. If you have more accounts, choose the one that is attached in gas on the platform's screen. Otherwise the login fails and the Account not linked window appears, even though you have the login set up.
The social network login ended with an error message
Most often because you closed the platform's window, cancelled the confirmation, or it was open too long and the verification expired in the meantime. Try again and finish the dialogue in one go. If the error repeats, allow cookies for gas in your browser and temporarily switch off extensions that block tracking, because login cannot be completed without cookies.
While linking, This account is already linked to another user appeared
This Google, Meta or Apple account is used for login by somebody else, typically a colleague, or by your own older account in gas. One platform account can serve only one user account. Either use a different platform account, or have the other person unlink it on their side. If you are not sure who it is, write through the contact form.
I need to swap one Google account for another in the login
- On the Google row click Unlink and confirm with your password.
- Once the badge changes to Not linked, click Link.
- On Google's screen select the account you want to use from now on.
I do not know my current password, so I cannot change or unlink anything
Without knowing the current password, neither a password change nor unlinking a social network is possible. Sign out, click Forgot password on the login screen and set a new password from the link that arrives by email. The procedure is described in the article Forgotten password.
The message The old password entered is not correct is showing at the Old password field
The application checked the password you entered and it does not match the one you have saved. Check whether you have Caps Lock on or a different keyboard layout, and whether your browser has automatically filled an old saved password into the field. If you really cannot remember it, use Forgot password.
The form will not accept the new password
The new password does not meet one of the four conditions: at least 8 characters, at least one uppercase letter, at least one lowercase letter and at least one digit. Read the red message under the field, it says exactly what is missing. If the message talks about the passwords matching, the contents of the New password and Confirm new password fields differ, most often by a typo or a space at the end.
I changed my password, but my phone or second computer stayed logged in
That is how it should be, a password change does not cancel other sessions. If you want to end them, go to Settings → Profile → Active sessions. There you can log out one specific device with the Log out device button, or all of them at once with the Log out from all devices button (which also logs out the one you are currently on).
I logged in via Google but I do not see any data in the application
Logging in via Google only opens the entrance to the application, it does not bring data with it. For numbers to appear, the relevant account has to be linked in Settings → Connected services and specific profiles or ad accounts have to be connected in Settings → Customer account → Linked accounts. The difference is explained in the article How linking services works.
I unlinked an account in Connected services and I am afraid I will not be able to log in
Nothing happens, it does not affect logging in. Unlinking an account in Connected services only stops the data download. Logging in via that network stays set up until you unlink it separately in Settings → Profile → Password & access. It also works the other way round: unlinking the login does not stop the data download.
The settings say Meta, the login screen says Facebook
It is one and the same thing. Meta is the name of the company that runs Facebook, and gas uses both labels: the Meta row in the settings, the Continue with Facebook button on the login screen. You log in with your Facebook account.
The Apple unlink window mentions a different network
The Unlink login window has a wrong label for Apple and mentions a different network. It has no effect on the function, the method whose Unlink you clicked is the one that gets unlinked. After confirming, check that the badge on the Apple row has changed to Not linked.
My email with Google, Meta or Apple is different from the one in gas
That is not a problem and you do not have to set anything up because of it. When linking, the application remembers the account with the platform itself, not its email address. The address you have in gas stays unchanged and continues to be used for password login and for emails sent from the application.
Apple offered Hide My Email during login
You can use that option without worry, login via Apple works anyway. gas recognises you by your Apple account, not by the address Apple passes on. It has no effect on the email you have filled in in your profile in gas.
I removed gas in my Google, Facebook or Apple ID settings
Social networks let you remove access for applications you previously allowed. After such a step, the platform asks for your consent again at your next login, confirm it and the login continues. If the login still does not work, log in with your email and password and unlink and re-attach the network in Settings → Profile → Password & access.
Social network login repeatedly reports a server error
The application limits how many social network login attempts can be made from one place in a short time, so after many quick attempts in a row the next ones will not go through for a while. Wait about fifteen minutes and try again, and log in with your email and password in the meantime. If the error persists even then, write through the contact form and attach a screenshot with the message.
The Use for login key icon disappeared from the account
The shortcut is offered only until you have login via that network set up. Check in Settings → Profile → Password & access whether the green Linked badge is showing on the Google or Meta row. If it is, you are done and there is nothing else to do.
I cannot get in with my password or via a social network
First try Forgot password, which rules out a typo in the password. If even a new password does not help and the social network login claims the account is not linked, your user account may be blocked or deleted. Write through the contact form and state the email you log in with.
My colleague logs in via Google, it does not work for me
Attaching a social network is something everyone sets up for themselves and it applies only to their user account. The fact that a colleague has it set up has no effect on your account. Attach Google on your side with the same procedure in Settings → Profile → Password & access.
