The Certification page helps an area destination management organisation prepare the supporting documents for its certification with the CzechTourism agency. It follows the CzechTourism document "Procedure for documenting requirements for DMOs with a 3-year certificate" and for each of its points shows what the committee checks, what gas already knows about you from the data it collects, and which form belongs to the point. You submit the application and the annual update through the CzechTourism electronic form as before. gas prepares the figures, texts and files for them.
Before you start
- The customer account must have the tourism module and a link to a destination management organisation. How to check this is described in the article The tourism module.
- The page is intended for area destination management organisations. A regional organisation will see a notice instead of the requirements that the page does not apply to it.
Where to find the page
- In the left-hand menu, open Tourism data and then the Certification item.
- In the page header, select the destination management organisation (if you have more than one) and the year in which you submit the application or the annual update.
- The page loads the deadline, the requirement cards and the table of the stay fee by municipality.
The year of submission determines which years the figures cover: always the three completed years before it. For a submission in 2026 these are the years 2023, 2024 and 2025.
A tourist area that lies in several regions submits one application for the whole territory. gas therefore adds up all regional parts of the area, including those your customer account does not have connected in the tourism module.
Deadline
At the top of the page there is a card with the next obligation and the date by which you have to meet it:
- Annual update: you have a 3-year certificate and before each anniversary you submit the mandatory requirements.
- Recertification: the certificate is approaching the end of its validity and you submit a new full application.
- Awaiting the committee: the validity under the last decision has ended and no new decision is known yet. If you submitted the application in time, the certificate remains valid until the committee decides.
gas calculates the deadline from the date of the last committee decision and the length of validity (one or three years). It takes both from the list of certified organisations that CzechTourism publishes after committee meetings. A certificate is valid from its date of issue, which can differ from the date of the decision by a few days. The date on your certificate always prevails.
How to read the requirement cards
The requirements are divided into two sections:
- Mandatory are the points that a destination management organisation with a 3-year certificate documents every 12 months: 5.1.7, 5.2.2, 5.2.3, 5.2.5, 5.2.6, 5.3.2, 5.5, 5.6 and the statement on corrective measures.
- In case of change are the points you document only when something has changed since your last application, for example the territory, the partners or the management of the organisation.
For a full recertification you document the points from both sections.
Each card has the number and name of the requirement, a paragraph what the committee checks (a short summary of the methodology), an our evaluation part with the figures gas has for the point, and a colour status:
- Green: according to the data in gas, you meet the requirement.
- Red: according to the data in gas, you do not meet the requirement, for example the average number of beds is below the limit.
- Yellow: data is missing, typically for one of the three years. The verdict stays open, because the norm requires the average of all three years.
- Grey: gas has no data for the point and you document it yourself. The card still shows what the committee checks and, where available, offers a form to download.
What gas evaluates from its own data
- 5.1.7 Beds and overnight stays: the number of beds and overnight stays in collective accommodation establishments according to the Czech Statistical Office for three years and their average against the limits of 2,000 beds and 200,000 overnight stays.
- 5.1.5 Number of municipalities and area: a list of the municipalities of the area with the municipality code, region, municipality with extended powers (ORP), area in km² and number of inhabitants. It compares the number of municipalities with the limit of 20 and the area with the limit of 600 km².
- 5.1.4 Territory: a map of the area with the boundaries of all municipalities.
- 5.1.9 Certified information centres: the tourist information centres that the list of the ATIC ČR association assigns to your destination management organisation. It compares their number with the limit of 3. Details are below.
- 5.2.5 Indicator monitoring system: a list of the 11 indicators you enter into the database of the Tourism Institute, with a short explanation and a contact. gas prefills indicator C26 (amount of selected local fees) in thousands of CZK for the individual years. It calculates it from the stay fee of the municipalities of the area according to the data of the Ministry of Finance.
- 5.2.6 Resources for DMO activities: the minimum annual revenue and number of full-time equivalents that apply to the selected year of submission.
- 5.3.2 Marketing activities: an overview of marketing over the last 12 months, described below.
- 5.3.3 Online marketing tools: the addresses of the website and social media profiles, described below.
Below the cards there is a table of the stay fee by municipality for three years with a Total row. When several municipalities report the fee under one company ID (IČO), the amount is shown for each of them with a notice and is counted only once in the Total row.
Copying text
You enter most points directly into the electronic application form. The copy button on a card copies the name of the requirement, the text on what the committee checks and the evaluation as plain text. Paste it into the form and adjust it as needed.
Downloading the official forms
For the points for which CzechTourism issues a form, the card has a download button. gas prepares the current official CzechTourism template as an Excel spreadsheet and fills in the official name of your organisation:
- Annex 5.1.5 List of municipalities, additionally filled in with the municipalities of the area (municipality, municipality code, region, ORP, area, number of inhabitants)
- Annex 5.1.10 Share of the private and non-profit sector
- Annex 5.2.4 and 5.5.1 List of partners (on cards 5.2.4 and 5.5)
- Annex 5.2.6 Resources for DMO activities
- Annex No. 8 Education and professional competences (on card 5.6)
- Annex No. 9 Final declaration of honour (on card 5.3.4)
The layout, columns and formulas stay as in the template, so you only complete the file and attach it to the application.
For points without an official template, gas prepares its own spreadsheet: beds and overnight stays by year with the average (5.1.7), certified tourist information centres according to ATIC ČR (5.1.9) and marketing outputs for 12 months (5.3.2). The name of each file contains the number of the point, the name of the organisation and the date.
Marketing over the last 12 months
Card 5.3.2 loads its data separately, so it may appear a moment later than the rest of the page. It contains:
- campaigns that ran for at least one day in the last 12 months, with their dates, reach and number of posts,
- the number of posts by network (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest),
- the number of followers by network,
- website traffic from Google Analytics as sessions and page views.
Reach is not added up across campaigns as a number of different people, because the same people appear in several campaigns.
For the DMO, or for the whole profile
If your customer account manages only this destination management organisation, the figures speak for it. If the account manages several destinations, gas counts posts for the DMO by the destination hashtags from Destination management settings. Campaigns, followers and website traffic cannot be split between individual destinations, so the card states that these are figures for the whole profile. It marks posts the same way when the destination has no hashtags set. You can then present the figures to the committee with this explanation.
If a service is disconnected or Google Analytics is missing, the card shows a notice and the other figures remain. How to restore a connection is described in the article Restoring a connection after access expires.
Certified information centres
Card 5.1.9 is based on the list of certified tourist information centres published by the ATIC ČR association. The committee checks the point against the same list. The card states the date of the list gas uses.
The table shows the centres that ATIC assigns to your destination management organisation, with their official name, address, class and certification date. The card is green when there are at least 3, otherwise red.
Below the table there may be a To verify section. It lists centres that ATIC does not assign to any area destination management organisation but that lie in a municipality of your territory. If they are yours, list them in the form as well.
The Copy list of centres button copies the centres from the main table, each on its own line in the form "Name; Address", that is in the order of the form fields. The centres from the To verify section are not copied, you add the ones that are yours manually. The download button prepares an Excel spreadsheet with the columns official name, address, class and certification date, including the To verify section.
Website and profile links
Card 5.3.3 loads its data separately and lists the addresses for the Links field of the application form: the website of your destination management organisation and the Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Pinterest profiles connected to the customer account. The addresses are grouped by kind. For each profile the card also shows the date of the last post gas has loaded.
- The button next to an address copies that one address.
- The Copy all links button copies all addresses at once, each on its own line.
- If gas does not know the address of a profile, the card asks you to add it to the form manually instead of showing a link.
If the customer account manages several destinations, the card lists all profiles connected to the account and reminds you to list only the channels of this destination management organisation in the form. gas has no way to assign a profile to one destination, so the choice is yours.
Printing
You can print the whole page or save it as PDF with the print button in the page header. The card texts are printed in full, the copy and download buttons are left out of the print. Details are in the article Printing a page and saving it as PDF.
What gas does not do and why
- It does not submit the application. You send the application and the annual update yourself through the CzechTourism form. gas prepares the supporting documents.
- It does not know your internal documents. gas does not keep the strategic and operational document, the cooperation platform, partners, finances and full-time equivalents, training events, the composition of the management or declarations of honour. For these points it shows what the committee checks and offers the official form.
- It does not accept manually entered figures. All figures on the page come from public sources (Czech Statistical Office, Ministry of Finance, CzechTourism, ATIC ČR) or from your connected services. Every figure therefore has a verifiable source.
- It does not fill in the database of the Tourism Institute. You enter the indicators for point 5.2.5, apart from the prefilled C26, directly there.
Beds in individual accommodation
For point 5.1.7 the norm accepts data from the Czech Statistical Office on collective accommodation establishments, that is hotels, guesthouses and campsites. Individual accommodation, for example private rooms, cottages or short-term rentals, can only be documented by your own survey with a described methodology. No public source of beds in individual accommodation exists, so gas does not keep them and card 5.1.7 counts only collective accommodation establishments.
The Tourists IAE indicator from the Tourism data page is not on the card. It is an estimate of the number of tourists from the CzechTourism survey, not a number of beds, and it does not serve as evidence of accommodation capacity.
Common problems
The Certification item is missing from the menu
The page is available to customer accounts with the tourism module linked to a destination management organisation. Check the setup according to the article The tourism module. If everything is in order and the item is still missing, write through the contact form.
Instead of the requirements there is a notice for a regional organisation
The page concerns area destination management organisations. A regional organisation does not need it for its documentation.
The deadline card does not know the deadline
The deadline is based on the CzechTourism list of certified organisations. If the page notes that it does not yet have an organisation from the list assigned to your destination, the other cards keep working, only the deadline cannot be calculated. Write through the contact form and state the official name of the organisation.
The deadline does not match the certificate
The date of issue on the certificate prevails, and it can differ from the date of the committee decision by a few days. A new decision appears in gas after CzechTourism publishes an updated list and we check it. The list comes out after the committee meeting, usually a few weeks later.
Card 5.1.7 is yellow
Data from the Czech Statistical Office is missing for one of the three years. Annual statistics for the past year are released in the spring. The card shows which year is missing and calculates the average from the available years.
The area or the list of municipalities is missing
The area is calculated as the sum of the areas of all municipalities of the area. If a municipality lacks the figure, the total area is not calculated. If the list of municipalities is missing entirely, gas has no municipalities assigned to your destination. In both cases, write through the contact form.
ORP is missing for some municipalities
Card 5.1.5 shows a notice when the municipality with extended powers (ORP) is missing for some municipality. Template 5.1.5 counts the municipalities by the ORP column, so it does not include such a municipality in the count. Add its ORP manually in the downloaded form before submitting.
Card 5.1.9 shows no centres
- If gas has not loaded the ATIC ČR list yet, the card is grey. Check the certified centres in your territory on aticcr.cz.
- If your destination is not yet matched with the CzechTourism list of certified organisations, gas cannot assign centres to it from the ATIC list. Write through the contact form and state the official name of the organisation.
- If ATIC lists no centre for your destination management organisation, the card says so. Check the To verify section to see whether your centres are there.
Card 5.1.9 warns about an older list
The ATIC ČR list is more than 90 days old, or ATIC has published a new list that we are checking before taking it over. Until then the card shows the list as of the stated date. Check the current state of the centres on aticcr.cz.
Two municipalities have the same stay fee
The municipalities report the fee under one company ID (IČO), for example when they share a municipal office. The Ministry of Finance states one amount for both, so gas shows it for each of them and counts it only once in the Total row.
There is a notice in the marketing card
A service could not be loaded, most often because of an expired connection, or the customer account has no Google Analytics connected. The other figures in the card are valid. After restoring the connection, refresh the page.
The file does not download
Try the download again in a moment. If the problem persists, write through the contact form and state which form it concerns.
